We have about five ipod's hanging around the house so I was really hesitant to try the competition. I love the idea of music subscriptions though... Unfortunately, although I pay for my music subscription each month I still needed to effectively "steal" subscription music get it to play on the family ipods. Thanks to the Ibiza, my life of petty crime is behind me. Yeah, it's not quite as small as other players and it definitely doesn't rank as high as the ipod touch on the coolness meter. After all my son can hit a button which makes his ipod touch look like a zippo lighter and it's got all sorts of fun games that you won't find on the Ibiza. What the ibiza does have though is wireless capabilities, drag and drop for music subscriptions, and stereo Bluetooth (I think the 30 GB version for Bluetooth only). My car stereo has Bluetooth so my ibiza works sort of like a remote. No wires, no stashing it in the glove compartment, etc. I simply synched it with my car stereo once and it automatically "attaches" to the stereo every time I turn on my car. My ibiza is also synched with my wireless network at home and at work so I have access to a kazillion songs the majority of the time. And if I'm going to be away from a wireless network I can drag and drop music from my subscription service in seconds so I'm stocked and loaded for travel. And I'm hardly a computer genius so if I can synch it up with other wireless networks/bluetooth, anyone can figure it out. Ibiza comes with quick demo's on a disk which are very helpful. Watch them before you try the thing out though because the controls are very different than an ipod and you'll get frusterated. The ibiza also comes with a plug (that's an added $30 accessory for ipods now) and a protective skin which not only protects but helps cover the fact that it's a little uglier than competitive products. In summary, my ibiza will never look like a zippo lighter, play virtual beer pong, or do any other parlor tricks. But it was priceless when the teenagers were talking about the latest obscure music and I was able to instantly pop it onto my stereo through Ibiza's Bluetooth technology. If you like the idea of subscription music and want to make sure your retirement fund is safe from the music police, toss out your iPods and try the Ibiza.
