For a while I thought I was alone in the fact that iPod ear buds really wouldn't stay in my ears. They always fall out or almost do so I can't really hear my music. I got these for Christmas last year and they are so useful! It fits snugly around the back of my ear and holds the ear bud in place (without making it too tight). My only complaint is that, because I kept my iPod in my purse all the time, they would fall off the ear buds and I would have to dig around in my purse looking for them. I might have been easier just to buy a pair of headphones or ear buds that could stay on/in by themselves.
